For fans, there’s nothing better early in a college basketball season than whenever traditional powers meet in any matchup, whether it be scheduled or in a tournament. Kansas fans will get a sample of the former when they begin a four-year home and home series with Georgetown.

For fans, there’s nothing better early in a college basketball season than whenever traditional powers meet in any matchup, whether it be scheduled or in a tournament. Kansas fans will get a sample of the former when they begin a four-year home and home series with Georgetown.

The Hoyas will visit Allen Fieldhouse on December 21, 2013, with the Jayhawks returning the favor a year later, when they visit the Verizon Center in Washington, D.C. The Hoyas will then return to Lawrence in the 2015-16 season, before the series concludes in our nation’s capital in the 2016-17 season.

Kansas and Georgetown have met two times previously, splitting the two games. Last season the Jayhawks beat the Hoyas 67-63 in the quarterfinals of the Maui Invitational.

Georgetown won the previous meeting 70-57 in the semifinal of the 1987 NCAA Southeast Regional.
